About The Candy Closet

The Candy Closet is the home of the largest selection of freeze-dried candy and international savory snacks. The brand was founded in 2022 by Megan and her siblings, Michael and Liz, who’ve always had a love for sweet treats. Their goal was to reimagine and recreate the candy shopping experience from their youth, like a mom-and-pop corner store where customers get to pick their favorite candies.

The challenges

When The Candy Closet discovered TikTok Shop, they quickly realized it was a perfect sales channel to reach a larger audience. But with over 300 SKUs selling across multiple channels like Shopify and its mobile app, manually listing products was exhausting the team. It took up a lot of time and resources, leaving little time for the team to handle fulfillment and inventory issues.

The brand soon looked for a product feed solution for the new TikTok Shop business and found one in TikTok Shop's Service Market. After the first few product syncs, however, the team noticed that some product photos didn't sync properly, and many of the orders hadn't been picked up from TikTok Shop. “Once our orders started to pick up, it was creating more work for our fulfillment,” said Megan Ruane, company co-owner.

“They happened to be our best sellers. So going through a couple of hundred orders a day, printing out the Shopify orders and the TikTok Shop orders, and stapling them together, was a bit much. We also realized that the inventory itself wasn't matching up, and the support to get that done was basically nonexistent,” Megan mentioned.

The outcome

A pivot was clearly needed. "Switching to AfterShip Feed has been one of the best decisions we've made. Connecting the products is super easy and the order fulfillment is so much smoother," said Megan.

  • A user-friendly interface and product bulk listing: The team can instantly sync all Shopify products and their descriptions to TikTok Shop alongside product photos by default. “The UI is clean and it looks like a fully-built product where we can see all orders exactly in one place,” said Megan.
  • Automatic order and inventory sync: The Candy Closet now uses it to fully automate the order fulfillment process, preventing inventory count mismatches and overselling. Plus, it also takes advantage of the one-hour fulfillment hold to minimize financial losses due to fulfilling canceled orders.

  • Product linking between TikTok Shop and eCommerce store: The Candy Closet has separate product listings on TikTok Shop for different product variants. What Megan also likes about AfterShip Feed is that it supports auto-linking those separate listings and associates them with the main product on the eCommerce platform. This streamlined the fulfillment process and offers The Candy Closet much more flexibility in omni-channel selling.
