Page Rank

Page Rank is a system of ranking web pages. It is named after Google’s co-founder Larry Page and the term web page. It refers to the algorithm used by the Google search engine to rank websites and web pages in its search engine results.

Simply put, the higher the Page Rank of a link, the more authoritative it is.

How does it work?

Page Rank considers the number and quality of links to a page to determine how important a website is. It is just one of the many factors that Google uses to determine the ranking of a website.

According to the algorithm, a link from one website to another acts as a vote of trust and authority. Hence, the more links or votes that point to a page, the more trusted it should be and, therefore, rank higher.

Factors that influence Page Rank

  • Internal links
  • No-follow links
  • Anchor text (the visible, clickable text in an HTML hyperlink.)
  • The likelihood of being clicked
